Hello,
Many thanks for the quick and comprehensive answer. I had written the question in Dutch, but had forgotten to translate it into English.
I still have a lot of equipment from the years 1980-1996. Can I ask you questions about this in the future ?
Just got a dot matrix printer Taxan KP-850 with power cable and printed original manual. What is the value of this?
By the way, do you know anyone who buys such equipment from the 80s-90s? (various Toshiba, Olivetti, Brother large matrix printer, etc..
With kind regards,
Herman Vertongen

Hello,

If you can get the screen working, I would say you could get probably 200-300 euros for it. Not working screen probably 100-150 Euro. If you are good with electronics you may be able to revive the computer by replacing the capacitors on the screen and the system board. However, it is also worth noting that your hard drive may not be working, along with the floppy drive (when you turn on the computer does the floppy drive make a constant buzz noise? If yes, then the internal rubber belt needs to be replaced) If that is the case these will need a suitable replacement as well before you can boot into MS-DOS, Windows etc.,

Bright lines are due to internal chip shorts It's me from facebook thought I would comment here publicly to say that I'm working on a guide for replacing the ICs on VCF forum, for anyone looking to repair them. You can damage the flexi-cable by soldering to it, but only if you turn the temp up too high, I have my soldering iron set to 350 degrees, and my heat gun to 300 degrees. You shouldn't damage anything if you carefully remove the ICs. You can pull the traces up if you lift the IC too hard. use patience as the ICs are also glued so make sure you heat it up enough to deform the glue. slightly brighter lines instead of fully bright lines are due to over voltages. if you read the voltage on the slightly brighter lines it's about ~5V higher than the rest of the lines.

In reply to <a href="https://retropaq.com/repairing-gas-plasma-displays/#comment-10358">Isaac</a>.

Do the screens you are working on mount the driver ICs onto a PCB or flexi-cable? The flexi cable mounted ICs look impossible to solder without damaging the plastic flexi-cable. Also did you work out what causes the bright line phenomenon? I always thought that it was because there was a short but not matter how I try to clean the screens I can’t get bright lines to disappear. Dark lines can sometimes be a broken solder joint, but more often than not it seems they are also a problem within the driver IC itself
